TEAM SANKALP

About Us

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” With the same belief, Sankalp- the social responsibility cell of Department of Commerce- was founded in 2016. The committee works with the aim of building socially responsible managers by helping students develop sensitivity towards the society and providing opportunities to apply their management skills to social problems. It also provides students a platform to give back to the society and work for social causes which they are most passionate about. Some of the activities undertaken by the committee in the past include plantation and collection drives, fundraiser, mental health workshops and orphanage visits.

EVENTS

Plant A Plant

Plant A Plant was organized by Team Sankalp on 8th of September, 2022. Team Sankalp collaborated with Smiling Trees Foundation to plant around hundred Areca Palm trees and gifted around forty Syngonium plants. As future managers, it is essential for students to learn the importance of balancing the industry and the environment. Therefore, this drive was organized as an effort to inculcate the feeling of responsibility towards the environment among the students and to make the campus green.

Sharebox

Even though we do not want the old clothes anymore, it's almost guaranteed that someone else will. Sharebox was a donation drive for helping the needy families around our nearby localities to survive the extremities of winter season. The students were requested to donate warm clothes to people in need around their home.

Mind Over Matter Workshops

The purpose of Mind Over Matter is to create awareness among students so that they realize the need of the hour and take steps that will help in ensuring their well-being and long-term security. Two workshops have been conducted so far. The first session was on the topic ‘Student Mental Health Awareness and Emotional Well Being’. For this, Team Sankalp collaborated with Rennet Attri, head of Youth for Expressive Arts. Though achieving stability is not something we can achieve in a matter of an hour, the session enabled the students to dive more into the depths of human mind and realise the importance of mental health. The second session was on ‘Digital Citizenship and Civic Participation’ in collaboration with Centre for Social Research. The workshop touched upon issues like cyber bullying and digital gender equality. It also threw light on the healthy engagement practices that can be inculcated by people on online platforms.

Project Sahyog

Under this project, Sankalp organised a fundraiser for JP Tea Stall Workers. With contribution from 72 supporters, Sankalp successfully raised 50,185 rupees in just a week.

Prayaas

Prayaas is an appreciation post series. The series aims to celebrate and appreciate initiatives by individuals, social ventures and companies that made a difference and brought about a change in the society by posting about their work on our social media handles.
