HIGHQ - The HR Club

About Us

Founded in 2014, HighQ aims to supplement the development of future HR leaders by supporting them in their academic endeavours and helping them acquire the core HR competencies. HighQ – The HR Club is the youngest core committee of the MBA(HRD) program at Delhi School of Economics.

At HighQ, the scope of our activities extends both towards augmenting the students’ curriculum-oriented classroom learning at the department, as well as helping them to explore and wander in the vast universe of HR knowledge.

This goal of achieving core HR competencies and academic excellence is fulfilled by working on three important fronts:

  1. Creating an atmosphere of academic rigor,

  2. Plugging of the students’ academic vulnerabilities, and

  3. Creating a formidable talent pool with a functional knowledge of the HR subjects.

Events and Activities

LHR: Under the activity “Learning HR”, the budding HR managers are assigned weekly written assignments on various specialized topics and subdomains of the HR field. This helps them to explore concepts, topics to supplement their understanding of the Academic curriculum followed at the college. This event also acts as a stage to recognize and appreciate the best performers and help budding managers identify their areas of improvement. It acts as a booster as managers can also practice answer writing for the university semester exams and improve their content writing skills which is a must to have for the HR manager. It helps managers to improve their formal communication skills also.

Shastrartha: Shastrartha is the premiere academic lecture series conducted by HighQ. True to its name, the lecture series aims to get the industry experts on campus to share their practical insights and demystify the core HR concepts, tools, and techniques for the students. Brainstorming and case studies are used as part of Shastrartha, to inculcate problem-solving and analytical skills amongst the students.

Business News Analysis: Business News analysis, or BNA, is a unique activity organized by HighQ to provide a platform for students to keep them updated about the latest business trends and news from the industry. At the same time, the activity helps budding HR managers hone their presentation and communication skills. They also get a better interpretation of the news with respect to a business perspective.

Inquizitive: Inquizitive is the quiz series conducted by HighQ to help students in analysing their performance. As the name suggests this also is to discover more about HR and to understand the concepts in a better way. With this quiz series, students can check their conceptual knowledge and make improvements by exploring more about HR. This series is to motivate students to learn and enhance their knowledge.

Conundrum: In an effort to better prepare prospective HR managers for the corporate world, which is riddled with dilemmas, and to provide them the information and experience they need to address these difficulties successfully, HighQ runs a brief dilemma case series called "HR CONUNDRUM." The goal of this exercise, as its name implies, is to help students develop the strategic thinking skills necessary to come up with original solutions. It also helps them get ready to deal with the wide range of challenging issues that HR managers face on a daily basis in the corporate world.

Combat: It's an annual festival conducted on Unstop formerly known as D2C.

It comprises two events,

Hunt It - It is a quiz plus scenario-based test designed to measure the critical thinking and creativity of the person. These help in developing analytical and critical thinking skills which are essential for a manager, &

Build the Guild - A data dashboard building competition, where teams can use any data visualization tool they want, such as MS Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, and so on. The challenge is to present the data in a way that is simple, understandable, and visually appealing.

Combat sees participation from top B-schools across India such as IIMs, SCMHRD, XISS, IMI, IITs, FMS, etc. There are exciting rewards for the top teams and a certificate of participation for all the participants.

Workshops: HighQ also aims at making students industry-ready by organizing workshops that provide students with practical skills for carrying out various HR functions. Since merely theoretical knowledge of HR doesn't suffice; HighQ takes the initiative to organize annual workshops like MS Excel (Basic + Advance), Power BI etc by learnt and well-established instructors. On successful completion of these courses, the students are given certificates that they can add to enhance their CVs.

AcadEx: The Academic sessions that are regularly conducted by Team HighQ are based on the core motive of promoting synergic learning and Development of an individual. The Senior batch and volunteers from the junior batch teach and impart knowledge of their favourite HR subjects and concepts to their fellow batchmates. Such sessions enable the seamless transfer of knowledge and collective growth of the batch.

Mock GD-PI: HighQ-The HR Club, in collaboration with the Student Development Cell, conducts Mock GD-PI sessions for the batch, so as to equip the students with sufficient experience and knowledge to prepare for the Summer Internship Programme. These sessions are conducted on a yearly basis. Students are also provided with a detailed review of their performance and the areas of improvement as well.

Case-mate: Case studies are an important part of our MBA journey and winning case-study competitions can help to enhance CVs and might even be the point of difference between selection and rejection. Keeping this in mind, Team HighQ organizes Casemate: A Case-study Workshop for the batch with the Senior Batch volunteering to impart knowledge to the juniors.
